The Cascade Sasquatch Expedition Day Seven

The Cascade Sasquatch Expedition Day Seven

It feels good to be back on the hunt! Yesterday was a complete waste of time. I was anticipating spending two hours at most on the hunt for our errant porters, but instead we wasted the entire day following tracks that mostly wandered in circles before finally disappearing at a fast flowing stream. I held out hope most of the day that they might have been abducted by a sasquatch. At least then we would have been tracking what we actually came out here to find! But, unfortunately, it seems more likely, from their erratic tracks, that they got high or drunk and wandered around until they fell into the stream. It was determined that they were probably floating in the lake at the bottom of the mountain and that we would need to look for their bodies at the end of the hunt. After that decision the mood was pretty dark so we decided to call it a night and head back to base camp in the morning. But then, in the middle of the night a distant howling woke the camp. Well, almost all of the camp. Our biologist, Stefan, was snoring horribly and had to be kicked several times before he stopped. Without the interference of our congested biologist we could hear the howling much more clearly. It sounded like a very large bear howling in anger, or pain, but there was something more. It wasn’t just an animal’s noises. It sounded as if it was attempting to vocalize. There was a cadence to the howling that suggested language. We may be the first living people to have heard sasquatch communication! There is no going back to the base camp now. At first light we will be heading in the direction of the howling! I am so excited that I haven’t been able to get back to sleep. I have spent the last couple of hours packing and making notes, but I need to be alert and fresh once the hunt begins. I am going to close my eyes and attempt to get a nap. More later…

Dammit! I overslept. Most of the camp had already packed up and headed off in the direction of last night’s howling. They must have surmised my lack of sleep and let me get a little extra rest. I quickly caught up with the rest of the investigators. They are true professionals who were focused on the trail ahead, and therefore contained their pleasure at my reappearance. The noise couldn’t have been more than three or four miles away. We should find signs of the sasquatch presence soon. More later…
